Hi all, Im intrested in buying about 5 or 6 Albino Auratus's for my 20 gallon (US) tank. I plan on trying to breed them. I have sucessfully breed cichlids in a 20 gallon before. My question is, I have only seen them online and have found them hard to get a hold of. I was thinking Aquabid my other choice is Aquariumfish.net but the shipping is around $25.00 and thats a bit pricey. I have two questions. Does anyone know a better place to get a hold of these guys? and. Does anyone know how to determine sex other then the spots i would imagine they are similar as they are albino and one doesnt change color throughout life. Thanks

I've never seen nor heard of an albino Auratus, but if they are anything like the regular one a 20 gallon is much, much too small and it simply won't work out.

Tips, I have a fry tank and species tanks. I go about keeping my fish just as any other and do the weekly water change that usually gets my fish in the mood for doing there thing. I remove the holding female in which i have a 10 gallon to house her along with any other females that are holding all in this one tank i dont find them aggressive towards one another at all. Then when the fry are ready i strip them from her mouth and make not of when the fry were born with a post it. Come about 3 months i try and unload them on any petstore or friends who are intrested in buying.

P.S. Your backgrounds are amazing.

Mike

It seems like your trying to catch me in a lie. I have sucessfully breed auratus. Not the current ones im working on now. I have two tanks with auratus a sucessfull breeding trio and im trying to establish another breeding trio as a store i sell them too wants more. I am also looking to start breeding albino auratus which i think are beautiful. My question is has anyone seen them before, does anyone have them and how can i get a hold of them with avoiding stiff shipping and handling.
