As most people know, I'm going to complete my DMA in May of next year. Well, my family's very happy about my return to Miami, FL and though they tried to keep their plans secret, they caved in yesterday and told me everything. rolleyes.gif They plan on redecorating and fixing up most of the house in Miami and I was shocked to learn how much of their plans incoporate aquariums in the design.

Their major project was to fix a back room and put it up to hurricane code. They want to make it an office/studio/family room for me where I can teach and entertain. They plan on placing a 55 gallon in that room. It will be waiting for me for me to setup and decorate when I arrive for either Thanksgiving or Christmas. I love my family.

The second plan is a redecoration of my sister's and my bedroom. We will share the large master bedroom. They want me to put a large 75g aquarium in there. I love my family.

The minor plan is a doll showcase/office for my sister. She collects very fine Barbie dolls. They want a 20g in there. What can I say, I love my family.

My mother has even expressed interest in having a small community aquarium in her own bedroom.

Finally, they would like to work with me on housing my bettas. They see a shelving unit strong enough to support maybe 3 bowls per shelf with lighting under each shelf to support the plant life.

Is my family awesome or what? I was so moved when I heard this. It is a wonderful thing when your family is enthusiastic and willing to share in your hobbies.

It is good that you have a supporting and positive family. Many people do not.

Yeah, my family rocks. They tried valiantly to save my goldfish when Katrina struck. We are all extremely close, especially since I lost my dad 5 years ago. I am looking forward to returning to Miami, not because of the fish, but because I miss my family and am looking forward to being with them again. I am very pleased with how everything is going and I just wanted to share with people who would understand. biggrin.gif

I wish my family were like that. Whenever I talk about fish with the family (parents etc.) all I get is "Aren't you too old for the fish rubbish?"

My parents would rather I kept my aqauriums in my room, or in the basement. My mother liked the idea of a 75G saltwater tank in the basement, once its finished. Although, the basement could be finished in....a month, 6 months, a year, or never.
My dad thinks we have enough space in our house as it is.
Both my siblings never have friends over and they wounder why.. (Well, since my brother goes to college in southern Iowa, its nopt too hard to figure out)
We have no good informal hang out areas in our house.
Thats what teenagers need.

Yeah, this is going to be cool. It looks like they want to have the 55g available to me as early as November, when I come home for Thanksgiving. Something to tinker with while I'm on vacation. biggrin.gif I also have a spare 20g that my mom wants in her room. This will just make the move back to FL easier next May. I'll have the ability to transport my fish from IL into established tanks in FL. That will be great!
