Can they cross breed? Say a calico longfin bn and an albino common bn? Thanks in advance.

100%, they are the same species so its not even cross-breeding

One that means that there is a more than likely chance that they will. The two fish in question may not get on, and so wont breed. There is no definite answer.

I was wondering this exact thing. You may do. I assume that the longer fins are recessive genes, so I would expect 2nd gen to exhibit 'longfinned' characteristics.

You can expect more short fins, but the fry will carry the longfin gene, That isn't saying that the next generation will be longfin. You would have to breed one of the offspring with the adult longfin when it got older and then you would have more of a chance to get some longfin fry. Even breeding two longfins, with the gene being recessive you will still have a chance at some shortfin fry.
