Hi guys
Following on from advice given the other night I have started to treat the tank with pimafix to combat the beginnings of a fungal infection. However, Im not sure what to do regarding the carbon sponge in the filter. Does this need to be removed as is standard with Interpet treatments for example? or i the carbon ok to stay? Having never had to treat the tank before, what do I do with the carbon sponge during the treatment? Many thanks in advance Jo |

Do your fish have columnaris as in the uk you need myxazin and pimafix.
You need to remove the black carbon from your filter, it only used for removing meds. Throw the carbon sponge away they only work for up to 2 to 6 days. Running black carbon all the time is a complete waste of money as you only need to use it for removing meds from a tank. You add the a new black carbon sponge back when you have finished the med course and done a 30% water change. This post has been edited by Wilder: May 21 2008, 07:47 PM |

Hi Wilder
My LFS was waiting for a delivery of Myxazin in his delivery this week, they shut Wednesdays so will pick it up tomorrow and commence treatment. The instructions on my jewel filter states the order of the sponges to be in and of course the carbon is in there - I guess they would as everytime I replace and have to buy a box they are getting more money! I have a spare carbon sponge so will remove this one until the meds are done with. Thanks again for your good advice Jo |

Where the black sponge goes in the filter I just added a new blue sponge.
Or you can just put more filter floss in the filter. This post has been edited by Wilder: May 21 2008, 08:09 PM |
