disco, my male veiltale, was bloated at first, so i thought it would be constipaton, so i fed him some peas etc, 4 days later, stil same size if not bigger, but now, he has like a cotton wooly infection on his body and he is being very lethargic (only going up for air), i have heard people going on about this before but i can't remember what the diagnosis was

any of you know, ask me any questions about him if u need more

my tank stats are fine too

ps, can't get a pic up as my sister has taken it on holiday with her

thanks

paul

Where are the fluffy bits on the betta sounds like columnaris.
How bloated is the betta.
Can you increase aeration in the tank.
He dosn't sound good with heavy breathing, columnaris and being bloated, he might not make it.

What are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nirate, and ph.

that is exactly what it looks like wilder, only prob is, i see what u mean about the bloated and lethargic too

will myxazin be a cure for it, it says on the bottle for other bacterial infections also

so, i am doing a 100% water change and taking out the gravel so n food can be trapped in the tank to rot

the fish is in a bowl at the moment until i get the tank cleaned thoroughly

thanks for ure help, u may have saved my betta's life

thanks

paul

For columnaris in the uk you need myxazin and pimafix.
You can't add the med while he's in the bowl as you need aeration with meds as they reduce 02 in the water.
With the bloating I think I would go in with anti internal bacteria med by interpet and pimafix.

Melafix is only good on cuts and wounds.
You need a internal baceteria med, as melafix is only an external antiseptic treatment.
