Where are you bringing it from? Generally I can't see there being any problems, I've bought things like nori and a load of heavy rocks from Vesuvius into the UK with no problems.

You do of course realise it's illegal to import /export and plants / live stock / food produce in and out of any country across borders ?
Had they caught you, they would have confiscated the fish and killed it. As well as most likely fined you.

No, fish food would not be allowed either. No food produce is.

I doubt that Bloo. I'm constantly bringing food (cheese, salami) back from Eastern Europe through Heathrow, and customs don't give a monkeys.

I checked and it's actually applicable outside the EU. So within the EU it seems fine.

"Meat, milk and other animal products (such as fish, eggs and honey) from outside the EU are banned completely from entering the UK"

On returning to the UK from the States (in 2003) I had half a dairy milk bar, an apple, half a packet of (small cherrios) and three tea bags taken from me to be detroyed.

In addition, when I entered Oz (in 2002) they wanted to burn my shoes as they had mud on them from Malaysia. I also met a bloke who had his tent taken and destroyed, as he had been camping in Thailand.

I declared them rather than they were found, but the point here is that they do take it seriously. We (and places like Oz and other Islands) are very dependent on our agricultural produce and have very finely balanced ecosystems, where the introduction of one non-native pest could spell the end for at the best a crop or two; at the worst a whole species.

Just look at the Grey Squirrels, Nile Perch & Dutch Elm Disease.

Sorry to waffle, but its something I think is very important in this country (UK).

well , were a bit more lax about that kind of thing back in ireland i think , and were departing from spain - so its within the EU. im bringing an ( empty ) 20 liter tank and a filter and thermometer as carry on , so i guess i could put the flakes in that.
