sounds like a secondary infection, treat with a fungal cure. If your tank holds say 20 gallons allow for gravel and rockwork etc as the probable volume will be less. This is where the need for a quarantine tank comes into it's own. A fish will get sick when it is stressed, the fish you bought may have travelled half way round the world then into holding tanks at the wholesalers then on to the pet shop and finally to you. They have no doubt had to deal with different water and been chased round so no wonder they get ill. My friend when you treat a tank for something the fish in that tank then build up immunity to that disease and given the correct care should be okay, but when you bring a new fish home it needs watching in a quarantine tank to see if it develops any disease and if so can it be treated in there, then once well added to the community tank. I always think a good investment is a magnifying glass for spotting things like whitespot early.

i followed the first link but im kinda confused.

the medication isnt going to work if the fish is spotty, only when the parasite drops? and then i treat is when its free swiming? and the only way to do that is y making warm water?!

am i getting that right? cuz i dont want my bala to die and the water is at the highest my fish can tolerate and its still spotty and EDRFTGYHJ

random letters.

ich is pretty easy to handle. but i remember when i first started with my very first 10 gal tank i lost quite a few fish to ich because i didnt know what the hell was going on!!

i read up all day and all night for like 3 days and 2 nights str8 looking for everything on ich.

right now my fish are also having an outbreak of ich, but it is being well handled by daily treatments of noxich.

remember to keep usinng treatment even after teh white spots are gone. the ich came out because i stopped using it when my fish had no more white spots but after a few days it came back because i didn't keep using it.

they say u should use the treatment for 3 days but i recomend u use it for 10, and turn the lights off in ur tank, and feed them less if they loose apitite.

ich sucks.

but i also have a question.

i currently have 2 tanks, 1 is a red devil tank and 1 is more of a semi aggressive community tank.

my community tank has ich, and im sure ich should have gone into my red devil tank as well. i noticed the first time i encountered ich taht there are brownish things with some white stuff around it floating around sometimes.

i am wondering if that is sinking pellets that just havent gotten eaten or if that is ich in one of it's stages.

i read that ich would look taht way but i saw that in my red devil's tank a while ago and he doesnt have any ich he is fine and still very hungry never rubbing against the substrate or rocks or his drift wood caves.

now im starting to think its just his picky eating only eating when i hand feed him and never eating if it hits the substrate.

could someone clear this up for me? i been fishing those things out with my net thinking its ich but i am starting to doubt it.
