My m8 has given me 2 of these celebs halfbeaks, (male and female) He has been breeding them...

i have had to put them in a tank on thier own as there not very good in community tanks apparently, only problem is i only had a spare 18" tank with a mature filter..

how big will they grow and is this tank to small for them and should i maybe setup a new one tomorrow , and transfer them in to it when its cycled?

Thanks.

Celebes halfbeaks only grow to a couple of iinches and should be fine in an 18inch tank. The reason they don't do well in community tanks is because they get bullied and end up starving to death. Have lots of plants in there (some floating plants) and feed them a varied diet several times a day. They look great when you have groups of them and the males start showing off to each other. 18 inch tank should be big enough to house 10 or so individuals.
