They look tempting... If you look on their description/needs, it says that they need quite hard water... what would you define as "hard water"? Over 10dGH... or higher...
Cheers... |

Well I decided to bid on them my self.
they come from mexico springs then the centeral area and the water in the springs there is hard due to calcification, They will do fine in any water but if you do have soft water then u need to harden it with coral sand etc etc |

No their not community fish, they need a tank to their own.
In a large aquarium then will be fine with mid water fish as these are more of a bottom dweller, and the babies are 8-12mm in size. Thats due to the fact that the mother nusherious the fry like Mammals do. Thes fish an be nasty to their own wound but once you get a family groupe they will leave the fry alone unless the tank gets over crowed. I always advise to keep rare livebeares in a tank of their own. |

Tell us how you get on with them ( if you get them... )
I'm quite interested... I heard they need excellent filtration and become ill very easily... |

Don't you know anybody that breeds them here in Mexico? I am not willing to take them out of their natural habitat as they are endangered species. |
