i have a 55g tank and am keeping 4 tetras, 5 tiger barbs, 3 silver dollars, 1 albino catfish, 1 peppered catfish, 3 pakistan loaches and 1 blue gurami . they all seem to get along fine except for the gurami and the silver dollars. the gurami chases the dollars around and gives them a push but i dont think hes hurting them? its not constant usually only happens when they cross each others paths and at feeding time. the silver dollars are just so shy already its hard to make sure they get enough food with the gurami around. i dont know if i should take the gurami back? the guy at the store did say it would be fine and its been about 2 weeks now and no injuries..
ur opinion would be appreciated thanks |

If he's just picking on the silver dollars, I don't think it's a huge issue - SD's are pretty robust fish, and can stand up to big cichlids. If they're safe around the likes of oscars, I doubt there's much a gourami could do to them. Are the catfish corydoras? If so, I'd add more of them - they're a shoaling fish and are more active in bigger numbers, like a half dozen, and they're just great fish in general.
The only thing I see as a concern is the tiger barbs with the gourami. Tiger barbs are notorious fin nippers. You've got a good group, which usually means they stick to fighting amongst themselves, but watch the gourami's long feeler fins, since the barbs might find them tempting. |

yeah the catfish are corydoras and i plan to add a few more of them soon. i would also like to get 2 or 3 more silver dollars i absolutely love them and have heard this would make them less shy? they are definately the most fun to watch they are always 'playing' with each other and spinning around in circles together. oh and i think i got a nice bunch of tiger barbs they dont seem to go near any of the other fish at all really. i have been reading a little bit about bolivian rams and am thinking i would like 1 of them do you think they would go well in this tank? thanks for the quick reply too!
