Not a great deal, it all depends on what you want and how you want to do it. In my humble inexperienced opinion, it differs a great deal...unless you were trying to be funny andy? More equipment/tools needed and things are alot spendier. You have to mix your water and let it sit overnight vs putting it in from the tap. |

I think my 10g sw requires a little less time each week than my 29g planted. |

I don't always mix overnight, and a FOWLR or pred FO is basically the same as a FW set up but with salt in the water. Obviously reefs involve far more gear and testing, but I understand Hi-tech planting does as well, so generic comparisons are not great. It can cost more, it can be a lot cheaper if you research. That;s the same in FW and SW. As someone who has had a few tanks of both FW and SW (and still maintain at least 3 of each), I find there is very little major difference between either set up. |

Yup, andy is right. Setting up a FOWLR with just clowns or other small fish could cost as little as 60 bucks
