I would think it would be similar to what a Golden Nugget would eat, as they are from the same family Baryancistrus sp.

Pretty much yes, just vary the diet. There diet should contain both vegetable and meaty foods. Prepared food such as algae wafers and household vegetables such as beans or courgette(zucchini) and cucumber as well as live or frozen bloodworms for example.

also im lowering my ph for my cichlids, from 7 to 6.5

is this ok for my plecs?

Yes 6.5 would be ok, it would be at the maximum low end (should be between 6.5-7.5)
