Although I would agree with "mostly bottom", my otos seem to spend a significant amount of times parked on plant leaves. Hygrophilia in particular.

Oh, almost certainly. I'd be surprised if that wasn't the case.

I just thought I'd mention that although they seem like "bottom-dwellers", sometimes their "bottom" is a foot off the substrate. smile.gif

I have otos in all my FW tanks to help keep the algae down. They are seen at all levels in the tank from the bottom right up to (and including) the water line - basically anywhere that there is algae growing on a surface they can suck on. biggrin.gif

They usually hang around the bottom but they will go anywhere they find algae.

Mine like to sit on a leaf for a little while sometimes. They prop themselves up on their fins!

They're cool fish. They act like clowns sometimes smile.gif

Mine go anywhere they can find algae but they spend most of their time either in the plants or on top of the pleco's cave.

My ottos hardly ever are on the bottom. Mostly they are either on leaves or hanging out on the side of the tank.

Mine too. They spend most of their time on leaves or on the side of the glass. They are rarely on the bottom....unless they do it at night when I'm not looking.

My ottos have actualy started palling around with my Danios (I need to get more of both) Its kind sad to watch them try and keep up with them but when they are eatingthey are never on the gravle (my red finned shark takes care of that!) but most of the time they bight as well be part of the ornamentation they dont take up much space at all and when they feel threatened they suck to the sides as apose to swiming off.
