You wouldnt want too many more, 10's are really quite small...

I'd say several neons, or a couple phantom tetras, or glowlight tetras... they dont get too big. You'll only be able to get a couple more fish until you're full stocked, though, just keep that in mind

Thanks. My ideal tank would be the 4 guppies 6 cardinal tetras and 6 glowlight tetras and 3 panda corys.
This would be over a space of time though

Do you think that amount of fish is okay or will it be over stocked. smile.gif

Oh no no, that's way over stocked. Think of it this way: one small fish per each gallon of water. The general rule is a gallon of water for every inch of fish.

You'd be stocked with just the guppies and the cardinals, and even then its pushing it a bit.

If you want tetras, I'd suggest the glowlights over the cardinals, simply because they're much hardier; cardinals tend to be more sensitive.

But yeah, I'd say like 4-5 small tetras with your guppies and you're stocked.

Or you could get your cories instead of the other fish.

How about 5 glowlights

and 4 pygmaeus cories.

Keep in mind, you WILL have fry from the Guppies, and the fry will quickly populate your tank. All of them may not survive, but most likely some will. Allow space for raising the fry. Also, it'd be best to find somewhere you could sell/give them to.

With four guppies already, I'd stick to some form of tetra and avoid anything like swordtails obviously. I also have two cories in my 10 gallon, and I know some people would say keeping less than 6 is blasphemy, but I have always only had 2 or 3 in every aquarium I've ever had, and they've all led happy and long lives.

Hi thanks for your advice. Would this tank be okay if I did'nt have guppies, 3 neon tetras, 3 black neon tetras, 3 corys and a coolie loach?

Because my mate said that he would like the guppies for his 4ft guppie tank. wink.gif

Kuhlii loaches need atleast 15 US gallons buddy.

i kept a couple of crossbanded loaches [when babies] in my 10 Gal, maybe you would be better off with simpler versions?

Giant apple snails are good for these tanks!

Paul.

this link should help...

Apple snails

How about a couple of shrimps, or other snails? There are plenty of small animals you could fit in that tank, but no more than a few. Cory's are fun, but I've always thought they look sad in small tanks as they like to use a lot of room usually.

Paul.

Thanks Paul this website is great.

What shrimps would be best I like ghost shrimps.

But if I kept a few corys like 3 then they would be happy and in my tank there is bogwood at the back so there is sand in the middle and then they would have alot of swimming space?

How come people say its 1 litre to an inch and some people say 1 gallon to an inch? Personally I use the 1 inch to a litre and heavily filtrate tanks (104 on a fluval 500 tank) regular water changes and my fish are fine!!! Clean water is the key!!! See aking what you wanted in the tank, approximately 19 inches of fish, the tank is 40L so I would think its totally acceptable to have the choices you made. As long as your filter is man enough and you do regular water changes.
