Java Moss, Anubias and Vallisneria are plants known for doing well in African tanks. Ive just ordered some Anubias and Vallisneria to give them a try and see how they go with mine...

An article you may be interested in HERE... (i cant find the second part to it though.. if anyone else can?)

Just remember that most malawis will be happy to take a nibble at most plants. (although these plants mentioned aren't always targeted by the fish) Also some rearrange the substrate so if you do plant in the substrate plant them in pots. Make sure your lights adequate to grow them and/or keep them alive. I'd have 1-1.5 watts per gallon if it were me. Don't get to 2 watts per gallon b/c you'll need to do more stuff for your "planted tank" to help prevent bad algea blooms. These plants may survive in lower light conditions, but to see them flourish and out grow any nibbling get the above described lighting.

Ok that's all I can remember atm good.gif

Just read the article. That is a good one. Thanks Darrel smile.gif

Well I had java moss in my 125. I have 2 species that are carnivores. It's up to you smile.gif (and I guess up to your fish). Try it and see if your fish tear it apart or not good.gif

Just like to add that people shouldn't rely on plants to help with filtration(like that article suggested) unless the tanks getting heavily planted. When they are heavily planted the plants WILL need to be fed b/c they will deplete things from the water. I don' know much about that(just that's the case), but you can read about that in the planted section of the forum.
