A friend of mine has a few what he calls Synodontis petricola. But they are almost jet black and are 5-6 ins. They're gorgeous cats but I can't find any pics of black petricola. There were 2 on aquabid referred to as mini-petricolas and were black...but max out at 3ins +/- and also called S. lucipinnis...but again can't seem to find any pix of the black ones large or small. Any ideas or info? Thnx

petricolas are meant to be spotted not black. Maybe they got the name mixed up with another fish.

I have some pics of so-called dwarf petrocola, properly S. lucipinnus, in my thread about my new baby! They are not black either. And S. petrocola look like S. lucipinnus just a few inches bigger.
Maybe they were a hybrid, but they are not petrocola or lucipinnus if they are black. |
