Hi, i have a 3ft 20 uk gallon tank, (24usg)

It is cycled and currently has 8 white couds in that will soon be moving to a smaller tank i have fishless cycling.

This tank is going to be a south american themed community.

Stoked with...

10 neons (maybe cardinal)
6 corys
3 otos
2 blue rams

Now, i havent kept blue rams before, have heard they can be sensitive little buggers!

Whats the best temp for these fish ive seen conflicting info, 22-26, and 25-30c, what woudl you guys recommend given the other occupants of the tank?sad2.gif?

My ph is just above 7.

What alternatives are there to the blue ram that are maybe a little hardier??? i heard the bolivian ram is a good fish just not as colourful.

Advice would be great. thanks.

hi,
rams would do quite well in low pH7s but would do better in under pH7. look for rams from europe and not the far east as they are hardier and will acclimate better to your water. i would have alot of live plants to help with water quality and give them shelter and bogwood for the same reasons. keep nitrates as low as you can but definitely under 30PPM, preferably around 10. temp 82F

I have a blue ram, have my ph around 7.2, temp ranges from 24 - 28 degrees celcius (having some stinking hot days here, and temp keeps going up, plumeting at night etc) and my ram is beautiful. Had no trouble with him at all. Lost his wife early on, but he has lived past her death for about 1 month now and is showing beautiful colours.

I dont think they are that sensitive.
