My old tank runs a Fluval 2 in a 24x12 tank. My new tank is 160 gallons and has an external filter. Would it be beneficial to replace one of the filter sponges in my Fluval 2 with a new one, and put the old piece of foam within my new filter as an addition to the new media already in there? It's not the right size etc (much smaller).
Will this help cycling? |

it should help because of all the bacteria on the old filter media, after bacteria has grown on your new filter media you can put the other back inti your tank

It will help but then it may cycle your smaller tank.
What I would suggest you to do is to rinse your filter media in the big tank for the next couple of weeks and what ever gravel vac you do or what ever mulm you colect from your smaller tank, pour it in your bigger one. Nim |
