I already had one angel fish in a 20G tank, and today I bought 4 more, they are smaller than my current one, but he keeps attacking all of them, one of the biggest is trying to stand up for himself but he is still being overpowered.
Does anyone have any ideas of how I could stop this bullying and/or why it's happening?

angels are territorial and he prob has the terra all to himself...............i would recommend changing the layout of tank completely then bag him up for a while then let others establish sum terra then let him out again good.gif

I only set the tank up yesterday (I used the same filter, don't panic). Surely he can't off established a terroritory already? I'll let my mam set the tank up the way she wants it then as she complained it looks crap how i've done it. Thanks for the advice nelly, and nice name (it's also my nickname).

I think overcrowding is probably adding to this too. Each angel needs at least 10g, with the minimum tank height of 18" (preferably bigger when theyre mature).

I've read that it's best if you're adding to an existing angel population if you get them around the same size too - the fact that they're smaller than him will allow him to bully them.

see how they go, your best bet is to give voilent 1 to shop exchange for same size angel as others then see out of them who gets along then take others back to shop and exchange for maybe corys or clown loaches keeping two who seem to hang together like a couple....would be better in my oppinon biggrin.gif hope everything works out m8

Clowns are to small for my tank, and my tank is fully stocked, probably overstocked, but overfiltered. I don't want to get anymore fish and the new angels are only a little bit smaller than my current one, none of them are mature either, pretty much babys.

Well, he seems to have settled down now, as I did change around my tank, Kathy, my tank is only 15" high, but it's filled up quite alot (thinks about it, you say 18" for angel fish, a few " will be taken off with the water level, whereas mine really high). I know for a fact it's overcrowded Kathy, my details will be in my profile later on tonight/tommorow so keep looking, i'm too hot and bothered to think now.
