Hi all,
I decided to take some pictures of all of my fish, I've only photographed my fish once before (HRP's) but I liked the idea so thought I might as well try and get pictures of all of my fish, I apologise in advance for poor camera work or dirty glass I'll lay the pictures out tank by tank if possible, so here they are, hope you enjoy them: The first tank is my 90 gallon bedroom tank, its inhabitants are 4 Hujeta and 1 indo dat. Datnoid: ![]() Dat furiously moving to a piece of shrimp I dropped to try and get it out: ![]() Hujeta: ![]() Hujeta (when I forgot to take the flash off ![]() Tank shot: You can just see the dat under the bogwood ![]() My second bedroom tank is my pair of breeding Honduran Red Points in Juwel vision 260 Female guarding fry: ![]() The male of the pair: His colours are developing nicely ![]() I couldn't get a tank shot due to the layout of the bedroom unfortunately. The last tank in my bedroom is my rio 180, which is a guppy/red cherry shimp colony Guppies: best of the pictures I took I'm afraid ![]() Female RCS: ![]() Tank shot (at night): ![]() The tank in my brothers bedroom, 2 HRP that didn't pair up (27 gallons) ![]() Unfortunately, this was the best picture I could get of the male, the lighting in the tank is poor but I got the tank for £20 so I can't complain. This HRP I think has better colours than the male in my pair, he is also bigger. His fins are a darker red, but he lacks the definative striping. Finally the living room tank, 90 gallons again Oscar! ![]() Severum/tank shot The severum is going to the LFS soon, I'm kinda upset (he's a good looking fish, like the orange on him) but its for the best. He bullies the oscar too much and the tank is in the living room, my parents would like it to look nice, unfortunately the Sev destroys any plants so its for the best I think. Can just see the polypterus's tail in the background. You can also see how it looks bare, plants will really brighten it up and make it look much better. ![]() Polypterus aka sleeping log: ![]() Hope you liked them, any comments welcome. Wish I could, but I couldn't afford it. When I was reading up on keeping them it said keep 1 or 4+ due to aggression issues, plus the tank is only big enough for one. Thanks on the severum, it is a nice looking fish, but the tank really does look better with plants, I've tried all sorts but overnight all I have left is stumps and a load of floating leafs. It destroyed £20 of plants in one night once. I trust the LFS I'm traiding it with, the owner will make sure it goes to a good home that I can be sure of. I always liked it for being outgoing, if you put your hand up to the tank it will display to it, swims up and displays its flanks while sort of twitching them, a nice green comes onto its scales and blue on its fins. |

The Sleeping log (aka Ornate) seems to do what near all Ornates ive seen do, that is not a hell of a lot. Have you thought about swapping him for a Palmas, Delhezi, Senegal etc..as mine are very active.

Great looking tanks and fish, i especially like the pic of the two Hujeta: Thanks, I think thats the best photo I took of them. I also like the male HRP (the one in the pair), liked how that has come out. The Sleeping log (aka Ornate) seems to do what near all Ornates ive seen do, that is not a hell of a lot. Have you thought about swapping him for a Palmas, Delhezi, Senegal etc..as mine are very active. Recently I've been thinking of changing, but my Mum is really really attatched to them, so I don't think I could. Even though I could get quite abit for them I recon, around 14" and chunky. I like them as well, if they were abit more active they would be perfect really, if I ever got polypterus again, it would be delhezi, I like their patterns. Thanks all,
I'm planning a tank change around in the summer, after exams (10 days away The basic plan is to return the 2 HRP's in my brothers room tank and use that one for a fry tank. The guppies will also be going, it was nice to get back to the basics with them and I forgot how much fun it can be watching little fish grow up, but I am after something more challenging, so I will be moving the breeding pair of HRP's into the juwel 180, which will still give them plenty of room. So that leaves the Vision 260 free, I think I'm going to stick to what I like, CA cichlids and I have been thinking about breeding some of the more uncommon Thorichthys species, or possibly salvini though if I see something unusal at the LFS I might just pick that up. I'm getting happier with the dat as time goes on, especially in the evening, its always active swimming up and town the tank, I just wish it was like that for the rest of the day, but after 6pm its basically out and about. Once again thanks Shroob |

Thanks all, I didn't think I would be one of those people who names fish, but I did with my oscar. Don't know if you can see but on one side its pattern seems to form an 'A' shape. Having just done a module on Anarchism at Uni I thought Bakunin (after the anarchist) with the big A being the iconic image, either that or Alvin (off the chipmonks
Hope this picture helps explain what I mean: ![]() I highlighted this picture to make it clearer:
