Just caught my spear tail guppy female giving birth
     And these would be one of the potential dads - though I've never been able to get a photo of any of the males to do them justice.   |

nice photos. Its a great thing when you can see your fish giving birth.
I love that last photo of your male guppy, it looks like he has a flame for a tail ... "boosters on " ... hehehe. great stuff. congratulations on your new additions. |

They're lovely little fish and much smaller than "fancy" guppies. Males are around 1" max and females 1.5" (head to base of tail). Super cool little fish - a shame I've never been able to ge a good pic of one of the males. But they are super fast

Being so small the females usually have between 5 and 9 (the most I've yet counted).Here are a couple more of the males (note to self: clean glass next time !)

i have NEVER seen gupies that look like that. could you tell me all of the names of both the males and females as i would like to buy some for my 55 gal i want to get over the summer.
they look awsome! i have seen female livebearers give birth and it was cool, but whenever i went to grab a camera they were always "done". lucky you to catch that. |

BigIan, If I have some more, I'd be happy to post some to you (at some point down the line) if you cover postage.They're Wild Strain Guppies and just "Spear Tails" as far as I know  They are kept on their own though and don't mix with my Endlers (in another tank) or they will certainly cross breed. Interesting that the females also have that high long dorsal fin and a cute "spear" shaped tail. Nice also that they are so small and can easily be kept in smaller tanks - as long as fry are kept under control. |
