Hi, I'm new on this forum but I'm pretty old to the hobby. I would like to tell a little history about my interest fish before I ask my question. It started when I was 9 years old with goldfish. Then, aobut a year later I started out with small peaceful fish. After that I started with New World Cichlids, which was 2.5 years ago, & found out that they are some of the hardiest fish I've ever had. I had to give my first batch away because they got large & their was a little too many of them. I remember some firemouths as being my first new world cichlids. I don't like African cichlids as much as New World Cichlids because New World Cichlids establish a territory & have just territorial disputes while African Cichlids often kill each other. I have had them both together & my New World Cichlids killed all of them & never got African Cichlids again. But anyway, I already have some Silver Dollar Tetras with a Parrot Cichlid, a Convict Cichlid, a Chinese Algae Eater & a Rainbow Shark & was wondering if this is okay or should I actually move them.

Hi and welcome smile.gif

the fish you currently have should be fine together as long as there is room for them. You don't mention the size of your tank but any tank that holds 200litres or more should be fine. You will have to keep an eye on the Chinese algae eater as it might attack the rainbow shark when it gets bigger.

Many Central & South American cichlids can be pretty agro as well. Most of the bigger species are notorious for killing everything else in the tank, including their partners. Many of the African Rift Lake cichlids are actually quite peaceful. Chances are you just got the wrong fish and it went nuts in the tank.
