4 lemon tetras in a 58litre tank along with 4 rummy nose tetras. 2 lemons recently lost to columnaris and unknown disease where he turned white then died the next day. Tank been up and running about 6 weeks after a fishless cycle.

Water stats fine, ammonia and nitrites 0, nitrates 5.

I now have 2 lemon tetras with odd swimming, they keep turning a little onto thier sides a little then righting themselves. It doesn't look like any swim bladder I have seen before.....

Holding off feeding for now - anyone any ideas?

Do the tetra swim in a jerky movement.
Swimming to one side can be bacterial to internal parasites.
Do the fish look bloated.

What does it look like when they go to the toilet.
Check the anus of the fish to see if its elarged or red and inflamed,.
Do any fish look skinny.

Do the tetra swim in a jerky movement.

- sometimes, but generally in the filter bubbles, I always thought they were just playing.

Swimming to one side can be bacterial to internal parasites.
- Oh dear.

Do the fish look bloated, Do any fish look skinny.

-I don't think so, tbh not had them long so not sure what is normal.

What does it look like when they go to the toilet.
- I have never seen anyone poo yet - suspicious?

Check the anus of the fish to see if its elarged or red and inflamed,.
- i dont think so, i can't see them so a good sign perhaps.......

Only thing is a little bothered one is going whiter/more see through like the last one that died.

Thanks for helping again.

When fish swim in a jerky movement its a sign of flukes.

Signs of gills flukes and skin flukes are.
Opaque body with excess slime.
Red inflamed gills, or pale gills with excess slime.
Spitting food out.
Weight loss.
Gasping at the surface or laboured breathing.
Sores on the body of the fish.
Flukes can cause bacterial infections.
Also fish can get internal flukes.

I wouldn't add the med till you know the fish have flukes.
The list of flukes symtoms I left in above reply do any of the fish show any signs of flukes besides the
jerky swimming movement.
