whats the difference? how many can i keep if i choose khuli? what about weather? i have a 15 gallon. i was planning on 3 khulis, can i do 3 weathers? how many does there need to be so that they are more active?

weather loaches get alot bigger then khuli loaches. They get too big for a 15gal
I would go with 6 khuli loaches, if you give them loads of places to hide.

i have one cave with about a 6"x6" area that is mainly dark all the time. is that enough of a hiding place?

Well weather loach prefer colder temperatures than Kuhlis, and are fine in coldwater setups, whilst kuhlis need tropical.

i currently have two snails with about 1 inch diameters. would khuli loaches eat them or do loaches only eat smaller snails?

Khulis dont eat snails as far as i know and they prefer lots of hiding spaces not just one big one. Like rocks, plants and wood.

Khuli's will eat anything they can fit into their mouths. I have seen them go for fungus on fish, and really small snails. They seem to do a good job getting the small ones around the tank, thus solving a snail problem over time
 .
