Common Name/s: Dwarf danio, Spotted danio.
Scientific name: Danio nigrofasciatus. Other scientific names: Brachydanio nigrofasciatus, Barilius nigrofasciatus & Danio analipunctatus. Family: Cyprinidae Origin: Northern Myanmar Maximum Size: 1.5" / 3.7cm Care: Similar conditions as for Zebra danios, however they are no where near as hardy as Zebras. They are by far the best jumpers of danios and a good fitting lid is a must. Feeding: Omnivorous, will accept all commercial flake foods. Loves brine shrimp, daphnia etc. Avoid bloodworms as they can be too large for the fishes small mouth. Sexing and Breeding: Easy. Will spawn at the “drop of a hat”. Easy to cross breed with other danio species. Comments: These stunning little danios will not tolerate much nitrate (NO3) which should be kept to, at most, 20ppm. Higher traces of NO3 and they start dying off. Therefore frequent water changes are recommended.
