Last night I found one of my two clown loaches had died. They were both very close and hid in the same orniment together. should i buy another clown loach for my tank? if so how many? or would my current loach be better left alone?
Please advise. Thanks |

clown loaches do need to be kept in groups so he is going to need some company, so assuming you have room then yes you should buy him a couple of friends (they prefer a group of 5+ but 3 would be a minimum). but remember clowns get to 12" so you need a big old tank to house a group of them.

Thanks for the info, the clown loaches are the biggest in my tank at the moment but have not outgrown the tank. so i will get some friends for him. I thought they prefered company but i didnt want him to attack or reject any new friends.
Thanks |

he shouldn't do, if you can then get fish a similar size to him, this will reduce the chances of any bullying. if there is any aggression then re-arrange the decor in the tank, this removes any territories so helps stop aggression, basically means they all start from a level playing field.

hi, i recently lost one of my two clown loaches who were always together, but i lost one of mine to dropsy, do you know how yours died? if it died of natural causes then you would be ok to add more i did, but to be honest with you the larger one doesnt bother much with the smaller ones i dont know if that will change when they get bigger my clown loach just hangs about with my red tailed shark, hope that helps you

I have no idea how he died. because they spend most of their time inside my ornimant i dont see them often, but last time i saw them they both seemed fine. My father had fished out the dead one by the time i got home yesterday.
My clown loaches always hung round with my red tailed shark to. funny ay? I will try and find another loach of simialr size over the weekend. |
