i have an 18" cube that i am going to set up, the thing is it will be next to my bed so i don't really want a light on it. So i think Blind Cave Fish (Astyanax fasciatus mexicanus) arew the perfect inhabitant.

Despite the fact that there blind and really could not care less how the tank looks i would like to make it as close to there natural enviroment as possible if only for me. laugh.gif

All i know is they live in underground caves in mexico but does anyone know what these cave look like so i can sort of copy them?

i cant turn up any pictures on the net so any help is appreciated good.gif

Never seen the caves that blind cave fish live in, hoever we have blind cave dwelling gudgeons, catfish and shrimp in Carnarvon and the caves they live in are primarily calcium based rock with small patches of sand. But mostly just rock.
Blind cave tetras are fine in tanks with plants or wood or rock, it doesn't really worry them.
Fish don't actually need lights on the tank, they just need average room light to feed and do their bit. Plants require lights so if you don't want live plants you don't need a light, but you can have any fish in a dimly lit tank.

Basic premise question, at night, when you are in bed, you don't have your tank lights on anyway, so what is the issue?
