Would corys be able to breed in a tank with tetras? Or would the tetras make it more difficult to breed corys by making them nervous?. Is it better to just breed corys in a species tank only?

from what I hear. getting corys to breed is not that easy. And if they do, you'll be lucky if you have a few survive

i've read a couple of articles about breeding cories, and they all mentioned the cories being alone, and some talked about having one female and many males.

i have one female and 5 male corydora sterbai, and my god does she lay!

every four days without a doubt she lays around 30-50 eggs. i try to save a couple of eggs each time (not always easy!) and let the rest of the fish eat the rest (the corys are in a community tank)

ive only had them three weeks, but have a large number of various cory fry in different stage of developement. lost the first 'few' due to a cock up with feeding but all the rest so far are doing well in a breeder net with platy fry.

and they are oh so cute!

only problem is i either have to buy a new tank for them all or give them away when they get big enough as i think there will be too many to put back with the adults sad.gif

i didnt intend on breeding them, it just kinda happened! i did nothing to 'help' so to speak, they just get on with it. i find it so fascinating the way the lady holds the eggs in her fins(?) before finding the perfect spot to stick it, then cleans the area before sticking the egg down, meanwhile the 5 blokes are chasing her round. she does each egg one by one (sometimes two by two) and is so fussy over where she sticks them!
