well after the very badly failed mg spawn I tryed my white sd girl Princess and my twins forest green ohm Forest. I used my 20 long instead of a 10, placed the cup at one end and several silk plants and terracotta pots at the other. I went down to check on them and she is swimming around in the plants and he is under the nest garding at least 20 eggs that I can count

I finaly have a spawn!!! and no nips or rips to the fins AT ALL!!! I am very hopefull for the babies because Forest has already been spawned by my twin and he was a super good daddy, I was pretty sure that it would work out fine because both the mom and dad have spawned sucessfuly before. Its just nice to have one go good from the start.


and I get up this morning to go check on my fishys and there is barely any nest left and forest's belly looks very very big, you stupid little bugger. I stole whats left of the nest and have 14 eggs floating in a tupperware container in my other spawning tank. things are not going well for me this morning.

Oh nooooo........so sorry. Was just coming on to contratulate you and saw that you'd updated it I hope the remaining eggs hatch for you.....it would be such a shame to lose those too. Good luck and keep you chin up

well I have 12 babies that have hatched so far, useing the stolen nest method. after I knew the male ate a ton I just couldnt let him keep them. the males tummy is the size of an american nickle...larger then my thumb nail, so I can only fenture to guess that there was TONS of eggs and he ate them.

but anyways 12 have hatched so far, I stole the nest and placed it in my other spawning tank in a tuperware container floating with about 3/4 of an inch of water, also where I had a few mg eggs that am I not sure were fertilzed or not. we shall wait and see if once they grow up any turn out to be mg.

its nice to have a few babies, but only having 12 so far does not guarentee me very many adults.

15 hatched so far, some can swim a little while others can not yet.

Ive had a lot of egg eating problems, but I've also heard it was really hard to hand rear fry, please keep us updated, I. may try this method .

grrr well wait abit then try them again, just steal the nest asap! why the hell did he do that anyway, he was real good with his first spawn..?
