Hello, I`ve recently purchased a beautiful Cockatoo cichlid.
He has been in good mood, although a bit shy, but he always comes out to say hello when he sees me.

My problem is with feeding time. He is hungry and tries going for food, but unfortunately, nothing seems to go down, he regurgitates everything after a while.
The flake food is regurgitated almost immediately. I notice that he seems to really like the freeze dried blood worms and tubifex; unfortunately he seems to regurgitate most of this too, or it seems to pass through his gills(I am guessing).

Is there anything I can do, or maybe some new foods I can try for this beautiful little guy??

Sorry, he dosent sound to good. My last cockatoo with this died days later. The only thing i could get him to hold down was Frozen Brine Shrimp( Adult). He'd eat that, but nothing else. Then he died, i dont know from what though. What size tank is he in? How many and what kind of fish are in it? How long has the tank been set up?

He doesn't seem to be in distress though.

The tank is healthy and has been running for 4 years.
He shares the tank with a Bolivian Ram, 4 blind cave tetra, a betta and a Giant Danio. Everyone gets along so he is not stressed. They are in a 25 gallon tank.

My first apistos were very fussy eaters when I first got them. I put this down to the fact I got them from a breeder and he fed lots of live foods like whiteworm. I tried flake, Tetra Prima, Hikari small pellets, frozen food etc. and eventually the dried food that turned them was Tetra Pro Colour discs. After that they accepted anything.

I also have a male and female Cacatouides. I feed them frozen white worms (mosquito larvae). They just spawned a few days ago. I noticed many (about 25-30) little baby fish swimming around the mother. I feed the fry frozen daphnia 2 times a day.

Also, on a side note. I found this behavior rather interesting. When a baby cacatouides strays from the fry, she scoops them up in her mouth, and brings them back to where the rest of them are.
