my tanks water has turned green, not the glass or anything in it, just the water I have done a water change and then I have changes the whole tank. rocks and all and it just keeps turning green on me... I notice just this evening that my temp, was 83 in it and I have turned that down, in hopes that might be the reason that it is turning green, can anyone please help me with this!!! |

I'm going to bump this up so someone can answer you (as I have to go eat supper, lol), but I can tell you that it was a very bad idea to completly clean the whole tank, thats 5 years worth of good bacteria down the drain, and your oscar will have to go through the tank cycling, which could kill it unfortunatly if your not careful.

QUOTE(ladydobie @ Feb 10 2007, 01:14 AM) my tanks water has turned green, not the glass or anything in it, just the water I have done a water change and then I have changes the whole tank. rocks and all and it just keeps turning green on me... I notice just this evening that my temp, was 83 in it and I have turned that down, in hopes that might be the reason that it is turning green, can anyone please help me with this!!! Temp for oscars should be 72 - 77 according to my Baensch book so you were a little warm at 83. Does it look like the green water algae on here: http://www.theplantedtank.co.uk/algae.htm If so then follow the advice mentioned. This post shows how another member solved the problem: http://www.fishforums.net/content/New-to-the-hobby/169325/http-www-fishforums-net-index-php-showtopic-169325/ Also, it would be useful to know lighting wattage + length of time Water stats: ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Do you have any real plants? (unlikely with an oscar I know but worth asking) ps This post has been edited by jonesyUK: Feb 11 2007, 12:04 AM |

If it is just the oscar, you could try having the tank do a blackout for a few days
