hi i just found 2 baby platys in my tank today wub.gif, and im not sure what to do...
I ve captured one of them and put them in a fry net... cathcing the other has been tricky. will it survive in my tank. My tanks well planted and there are 2 balloon platys, 6 guppies, and 2 cardinals and a shrimp.
Also i have not found anymore babies so far, should i be expecting more? As the balloon platys are still quite plump wacko.gif if that makes a difference wacko.gif
I d love some advise! thanks guys

Congrats on your fry! biggrin.gif

Personally I would leave the fry in situ. You have a well planted tank which will give them places to hide.

Some may survive others may get eaten. Survival of the fittest.

I've put some floating plastic plants in my tank. The fry love it in there and the adult platys can't get to them!

The above is what I've done and I have 5 8 10wk old fry and 2 3wk old fry.

You may elect to go the survival route or catch them put them in a breeder net or separate tank until they big enough not to get eaten. The choice is yours!

Enjoy your fry, they are so cute when they are small! wub.gif

they may be ok if they are good hiders but dont keep your hopes too high, you know how quickly the platies and mollies gobble up the food you put in there!!! What happened to the rest of the brood or did u not see them?? x

thanks very much for replies! smile.gif
I've left one in the fry net thingy, and i think there are 2 more still in there, but not seen them since the morning, however they re really small (and cute) so hopefully they re are still there. One in nets doing fine smile.gif its gorgeous hehe
I think im just gonna leave it like that, i have added more plants to tank, from my tank downstairs.
lots of hiding places for them. I dont have any plastic plants but lots of bushy nice ones. The babies were hiding at the bottom of them inside.

Whatever section of Tropical Fish Forums you're at, you'll find pinned topics just like these to help "newbies" learn the basics quickly and painlessly.

Cheers,

Neale
