so i watched a video on youtube today on a kenyi mating ritual.. i watched how they each shiver until eggs come out.. just after that i looked in my cichlid tank and my kenyi was doing the same thing in this cave i have.. im not sure what he is doing since there are no other kenyi's in the tank..
could he be breeding with my firemouth or convict? whats the deal? |

BTW.. i think my kenyi is a female cuz its light blue with darker blue stripes

There is no way a Kenyi could mate with a convict or FM - completely incompatibile and to be honest they shouldn't even be in the same tank. Kenyi are African cichlids and have totally different water and dietary requirements to NW cichlids like cons and FM's. For example Kenyi are Herbivores and FM's and cons are both Carnivores so feeding them appropriately in the same tank is nearly impossible.
The shaking you have observed will be a sign of aggression in this case. |
