Can you clean it off with tank water and leave it in the tank? Does the tank have another form of circulation?

If it is less than a year old, get onto Tetratec, as it is still under Warrenty (they are covered for 3 years). They will usualy send out replacement parts next day special delivery free of charge for genuine claims good.gif

Their contact us web adress is here They did have issues with the origional taps, that they have re-designed, thus the replacement will work better. The clips, like most other filters, will pull off fairly easily. I have found that when I havn't correctly aligned the pump head, if I use the clips to secure, they pull off. They puch back on again easily. Is this the problem, so has some plastic snapped?

All the best

Is the snapped bit on the main body, or on the clip itself?

Since it looks like rabbut has got you covered talking about the parts repairs, I'll just mention a couple other things:

1) for your media I recommend that one option is to put it (the media trays & sponges etc) into a slightly bigger container (or just us the cannister container itself if you don't have to work on that part) and set it in the bathtub or such place. Then periodically pour most (about 3/4 should do it) of its water out and refill it immediately with tank water. The bacteria will indeed survive even 4-5 hour stretches between changes, so you don't even have to have a sleepless night. If your tank is big the level won't go down much doing this.

2) don't forget of course on the tank itself be begin testing for ammonia and nitrite and doing water changes if either gets above 0.25ppm just as you would if you were back to being a beginner in a "fish-in" cycle. (Just mention this as sometimes longer term fishkeepers forget this beginner stuff and would hate for your fish to be hurt just from this simple thing! -- but know you are already probably taking care of it.)

They will. Their customer service is top notch. Just a thought; you were obviously annoyed that the tap broke, maybe you took it out on the clips?. I've been using one for eighteen months and found it to be as far from a ''piece of crap'' as it could possibly be.

Same here, they're brilliant filters, and their customer services are first class.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion, of course. It's the most solid impeller I've seen, how did it break?.

Im only trying to help, i totally agree that Tetratecs are a budget filter, i myself also use Eheim, owning a Pro 3 2080 and Pro 3e 2078. Ive never had a problem with any of my Eheim equiptment up to now. good.gif
