I am thinking about buying about 5 or 6 black neon tetras, I have heard about the minimum temperatures, but never the max. My aquarium is normally 82 degrees, and I was wondering if they would be compatible in 82 degree water. My ph is normally 7.2, but I have no way of knowing the hardness of the water. So do you guys have any idea if they would thrive in my conditions. : )

That is warm. Do you have a specific reason to keep your tank that high?

Black Neons are very hardy, so will survive in most conditions, they will not be happy that high.

Some reason, even without a heater, it is costantly at least 80 degrees I will try turning it down again, do you think 78 would be about right if i can get it down a bit?

It depends, if you have no specific reason for holding your tank that high, 75F would be appropriate.

Black Neons are pretty tough characters.
Infact I always use them for cycling a new aquarium.
