These little guys belonged to my housemate. He set the tank up on a whim about a year ago and lost interest after about a month. There were initially 3 angel fish but 2 of them haven't survived the appaling conditions he expected them to "flourish" in. I have been on at him for a while to rehome them as it wasn't fair on them but to no avail until he moved out last week and announced that he wouldn't be taking them with him and would I be able to do something with them. I have 4 tanks of my own and just don't have the time needed to care for another tank as well and these 2 aren't compatible with my fish.

I have cleaned the tank out and been feeding them on frozen bloodworm etc to try and bring them back to health. The angel fish is a black, white and orange marbled colour and is very placid as angels go. She (I have always referred to her as she but cannot guarantee sex) is currently about 3 maybe 4 inches long. Her fins are a right state but I feel that this is due to the poor water quality rather than a fungal infection as there are no growths, clouding or streaking of the fins. They also seem to have improved in the week she has been in my care. I would love her to go to an experienced home with other angel fish, obviously I don't want any money for her, I just want to see her living the kind of life she deserves and I don't think dumping her on the LFS in her current state would be good for reducing stress and improving her health.

The feather fin upside down catfish (named general sherman) seems to have faired altogether better and seems none the worse for his experience. He is a funny little chap, very entertaining to watch as he grumps about the bottom of the tank and underside of the leaves. He is 5/6 inches and I believe is fully grown at this size.

Apologies that there are no photos, believe it or not I don't have a digital camera (used to use my housemates until he "selfishly" took it with him, lol. If anyone wants photos I will try and borrow one from someone and email them to prospective owners.

I would love for these guys to go to a home together but I realise this may be a little optimistic and will consider seperate homes with suitable tank mates. Also I understand that people won't be queuing up to take on a raggedy angel fish so if someone wants her but would prefer for her to be a bit healthier before introducing her to their tank I will look after her for a few weeks to make sure that the state of her fins is down to water quality and not an underlying infection.

Please PM if you are interested in either of this little guys, I desperately want them to go to someone who will care for them as they deserve. Many thanks

I may be able to take care of the upside down catfish - I have a 24" community tank already established and am setting up a 3 foot apisto/shell dweller tank that I'd think about adding him to once I've got it established in a month.

I'd love to take the angel fish but I haven't got a tank big enough, unless I'm misreading the above and you're offering the tank as well. (Thats probably wishful thinking, I'd love a tank big enough for an angel fish but I just can't afford it.)

I'll PM you.

Thanks to everyone for the replies, tenohfive have PM'd you. I am not offering the tank at this moment purely because it is not big enough to house an adult angelfish or the catfish really. It is 90L but it is taller than it is wide and is a stupid hexagonal shape. The widest point of the tank is 1 1/2ft so it really is no where near big enough.

I will see what the response is to the angel fish now. I really was hoping to rehome her sooner rather than later as I really can't afford the costs of running another tank (I am looking at selling my small brackish tank after this and possibly one of my others, can't decide which one yet a I really can't afford to spend £1200 a year on electricity!). Obviously if she doesn't attract any attention now I will try again in a few weeks when she is looking a little perkier. Thanks again everyone wink.gif

I have kept rams with angels in the past and never had any problems with them. In fact this is the first time I have had an angel tank that aint had rams in (I have keyholes instead)
That is the biggest problem with this hobby what works for one person doesnt always work for another crazy.gif

Sporen.

Just wish you lived closer to me as I would have snapped them both up blink.gif

Hi Guys, just an update for everyone, the catfish has been offered a new home so he should be going to start a better life early next week. Sadly the stress of the last few months proved too much for the remaning angel fish and she gave up the fight last night cry1.gif
Thanks to everyone who offered help and homes.

I'm sorry to hear that, poor bugger.

On the plus side, I'm really looking forward to my new arrival. I reckon he'll be happy in the tank I've got planned for him.
