Hi everyone. This is my first post on this forum.

I just wanted to share my excitement about actually seeing my Snowflake Eel (Gymnothorax Tile) eating! w00t.gif

I'd had him for about a month. I tried dangling fish, shrimp, krill, and fresh squid in front of him but it usually just annoyed him.

Today I got a submersible Marina Micro LED light (red) and put it in the tank. There was no unwanted light in the room, only the red glow in the tank. What a difference! Almost immediately my Knight Goby and eel started inching their way into the open water.

I got a piece of squid (thawed, from the grocery store) and skewered it on a feeding probe, and let my Green Spotted Puffers take a few bites. Then I displayed it to the Eel near the entrance of his cave. That eel came out and instantly seized the fleshy chunk and gulped it down.

So for anyone out there having trouble feeding your eel, try using nocturnal lighting. I've only tried the red LED, but I will try the blue light next time.
