take note that if ANY of these sights say that you CAN keep betta's in small containers happily, that this is false info, and it is greatly advised that you keep your betta in nothing under 1gal. click HERE to find out WHY! And don't forget to STOP betta abuse!

Main pages of betta sites
betta info
short but sweet...more info
lots of info
info including symptoms of sicknesses
feeding, health, and other info
learn about, and order betta's
EVERYTHING! (mainly breeding)
the process of breeding
everyone loves this place!
another good website
bowls are wonderful! click here to learn more about bowls!
everything and more....
basically another care sheet
medicines and illnesses and other info
betta FAQ
more basic care. list of diseases and descriptions at bottom
a ton more of info.....
wanna breed? check this out for info....
a crap load of things beginers should know...including setup of tank, saving money, care, and even has FAQ!
genetics, illnesses, and shows a few of the types of betta's there are.
names of the colors and tails of betta's. (thanks to sweet_tinuviel for finding this) coolx.gif
besides the bowl thing, this is a good site for info.
not really for newbies....things here that oldies may find interesting. 40yrs of expirience.
looks like a good website, with little things here and there that you may wanna know.
sick betta? he could have.....
vase info, breeding info, and things about sicknesses....
care, breeding, reviews, tail types, disease info, and more.
one of our very own members website! learn how to care for your betta biggrin.gif (thanks to chris3025 for sharing his website)

links to everything....not just betta's....lizards, dogs, fish....aliens tongue2.gif

Basic Betta Care

Like i said earlier, betta's should NOT be kept in anything under 1gal, unless you wish to have a betta, who's life is severly shortened and very depressed.

Bringing home your new betta
feeding, cleaning, and housing
more things about basic care
about betta's, and how to house them
every last detail about getting a betta, feeding him, housing him, and more
don't just go get a betta....READ AND LEARN first!
great stuff. gives good information.

Betta tankmates
just a couple links....please tell my if you find more!
Who can your betta be with?
would your betta even want a tankmate?

Sickness and Disease links
This note is from THIS site:
user posted image
list and explanations of sicknesses by bettysplendens
find out what he has and treat it!
examine, diagnose, and TREAT!
answer these questions to help find out what your betta may have
list of diseases and discriptions
List of medicines and what they cure
pictures of diseases
Yet another list of a bunch of sicknesses and descriptions
What it looks like, the symptoms, and the cures
Quick overview of symptoms and remedies
Once again with the large list of sicknesses and description

Breeding Links
first off a quote from wuv that you should consider-
QUOTE (wuvmybetta)
Before we start let's think about a few things. Raising betta fry is very time consuming and lot's of work. You should have a plan for the fry, where will they live in a few months?

Also, don't breed veiltail bettas. Lovely though they may be, there are millions and millions of homeless veiltails out there, so don't contribute to the "betta in cup" market. Get a nice, quality pair of bettas to breed with. You should have no trouble getting rid of quality betta fry smile.gif

Betta Barracks Breeding page
Various breeding methods
Betta's R Us Breeding info
Mermaiden Breeding info
choosing the parents and Step by Step on how to spawn
Bakers Breeding tips
Betta Talks Breeding info
Another step by step "how to breed" site
everything from start to finish
How to spawn and raising the fry
condition, set up, spawing, then raising. the basics of breeding
This guy has been breeding for a long time....i think he knows what he's doin
Everything from tank setup to fry food
list of materials needed to breed, how to condition, then how to breed

would anyone like to contribute to this list of places? i'm just trying to make a list of every good site i can about betta's. maybe it could help out some newbies and whatnot.....or even the people who already have betta's and aren't newbies.

i'm probably going to add to this....but i gotta go do some more searching.....thanks ahead of time, to anyone who gets more sites! thumbs-up.gif

Well not to toot my own horn...hmm, well ok, to toot my own horn...there is my website, although I've only recently started it, but I'm adding to it daily (not necessarily the Betta pages). If anyone ever sees any glaring problems with anything I've written then please contact me smile.gif It all came from my own experiences and research and right out of my head (yikes that's scary). Here's the main Betta page with links to the other Betta areas to the bottom left:

Yep, that's Phil Lafferty, VERY well known in the show/breeding ranks. Has incredible fish and extremely knowledgable about Bettas. One of my red males is from his lines, unfortunately I've never been able to spawn him and now he's too old sad.gif

Without doubt, the best site I've found so far is http://www.bettatalk.com/

Faith's site is amazing, there are hundreds of pages with excellent information on every topic you can think of relating to Bettas (as well as a BettaCam!) You can't go wrong if you listen to Faith Yoda.

About Faith from the BettaTalk web site:
QUOTE
I am a member of the IBC, founder and President of LABS (Los Angeles Betta Society)  and have been helping the betta community through this website for over 6 years now. I have over 170 spawns and 3000 shipments under my belt and I was recently  featured on ANIMAL PLANET.

and she's funny too. laugh.gif

Now that I have retired early confused.gif , I have time to enjoy this hobby again. I think Bettas a wounderful an have set up two in seperate 5 gal homes. I want to add more. We have in-wall dish hutch that will house several.

The "Spotlight on Bettas" section by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals (the manufacturer of Stress Coat®, MelaFix®, BettaFix®, PimaFix®, etc.) has some articles, a betta gallery, FAQs and a trivia game, which I'm sure you folks will score 10/10.
