My aquatic plants appear to be rooting but from halfway up the plant. is this normal?

I can perhaps attact a picture if needed

Yes, most stem plants do it, it is to get more nutrients, if you dont like them then just cut them off - job done smile.gif

Oh btw, if they get a lil big for my liking is it ok to just trim the ends a lil?

yes, trim the tpos to make the plant send out sideshoots to bush out or uproot the plant and cut the bottom off to make them grow up. It won't harm them if you uproot them.
