Great fish, and amazing pics. I wish I could get a pic of one of my 2 BGK... However, I have seen those tanks in the flesh and I don't think they will happily house a full grown bgk.

Unfortunately those crabs naturally inhabit brackish waters and certainly thrive in water with marine salt added. Together with the fact that crabs will eventually catch any fish they can they are not really a must for every tank. I would be surprised if he survives once the bgk gets to neare adult size.

The problem with crabs with fish is that the fish that are usually large enough to be safe from predation from the crab will look upon the crab as food.

I don't see a 75 gallon as big enough for a fish that grows to 16" easily and is known to get past 20".

Especially considering how much of the tank's size is in its height, not allowing adequate turning room for the fish.

So in your opinion every FW tank should have a brackish crab?

Qays not sure of proper name but the bottom looks like a onion.

vancouver yes its a red claw crab that dosent grow bigger than a old 50 pence piece

andywg and samuk how long does it take for a BGK to grow to 16", gonna try and measure the width tonight.. really dont want to have to get rid of him

When ever any body visits my house no one looks at the fish there just like wow a crab.
every one loves the crab.. yes.gif
