I'm currently in the process of making a DIY python. I have the female connector, and 2X 50' long hoses. (Some of the tanks it has to reach to are in the basement) I can't find the waterbed fill & drain kit with the shut off valve. I was told that they could be purchased at walmart, lowes, or home depot. I asked employees at all of this places and they said they don't have them. Walmart told me they use to carry them but they don't anymore. Should I go to a different walmart considering that the one by me is kind of limited? One guy is lowes told me I could only get it at a furniture place that sells water beds. Why am I having such a problem if other people aren't?

Check a place like U-Haul, that rents moving vans & equipment. Last time I was in there, they had a rack full. I guess most people don't drain & fill water beds until moving day.

I dont mean to hijack your thread lilmolly but I wouldnt mind making my own python if someone could point me in the right direction (plans/instructions/link), those types of thing are rare here in brisbane - as far as I know anyways. I've never seen one.

You can also buy just the bits for a Python, ie just buy the pump and provide your own hoses and connectors etc.
Check out this website, I'm sure there are lots more python bits |

If you get the waterbed drain & fill kit, a length of water safe hose long enough to reach from your sink to the tank, and a 1 or 2 liter plastic bottle you should be able to make your own. Camping or motor home outfits sell water safe garden hose, it's used to fill the fresh water tanks on rv's. Cut the bottom off the bottle, take it to the local hardware or diy store, & tell them you need to attach it to the end of a garden hose. Seems most of the people who work there like to try to figure out these sort of things, they do anytime I show up with wild ideas. Attach the bottle to the end of the hose, turn on the waterbed drain, use that to vac the gravel. Switch the drain & fill the tank.

DIY Python plans.
You might try Ace Hardware for the waterbed drain and fill kit. They have a kit listed here on their website. |
