hey everybody.
as i mentioned in my last topic that my auratus is holding, and now i finally stripped the fry. what i dont get is she only had 3 fry? I did the stripping thing more but cant get anything out! more than 3. when i dipped the mothers head and opened her mouth 3 free swimming fry came shooting out! is it possible that she ate the eggs/fry? or its normal for a first time brooder? |

If that's all there is, then it's all there is. I would call that normal, especially for a first time. She could've easily accidentally or purposefully ate some or even released a few already. Or she could've only picked up a few when they were fertilized. I wouldn't worry about it. She may do better next time!!
This is just my opinion formed by lots of prior reading on the subject. |

Perfectly normal for a first time mother. IME mbuna usually start out with small numbers, the older and more experienced they are the more eggs they hold successfully. Just be patient, she'll figure it out eventually.
