Right I was wondering if people on here could give me a list of egg layers suitable for a 125L tank (Rio 125).
It currently has 5 zebra danio. But I'd also like some other egg layers... So fire away ![]() P.S I've looked at the fish species list, but not sure if they're compatible with zebra danios. So far I've thought of a pair of Red Robin Gourami's, some neon tetra's and a golden nugget pleco |

It would be a lot easier to goive you a list of livebearers. Most of the fish we see in the hobby are egg layers.

You could probably get away with at, since the tank is 3ft. Also since you have danios, which are very fast and can take aggression, you're set. If you got the shark with the danios, it'd open up the option of tiger barbs too, you'd have an aggressive community, take note it'd not be suitable for most peaceful fish as they'd probably get bullied. Neon Tetras, (and probably the gouramis although I have never heard of that species), would probably be unsuitable with the tiger barbs, but the pleco would be ok. It depends on the dimensions of the tank. They are a semi aggressive fish, so I wouldn't add any other bottom dwellers if you choose this fish.
EDIT: Beat me to it, again! That's a good idea, with the tiger barbs. EDIT 2: Tiger barbs would probably be okay with tetras as long as you have at least 8 tiger barbs. It may be pushing the bioload a little bit, though. I'm not sure how many gallons it is.. This post has been edited by n3ont3tra: Dec 22 2007, 11:49 PM |

I'd say plecos would be ok with the shark since they are 'armoured' and quite a few can show aggressive themselves.
Having things like corys with it might be dodgy though. The tank is about 30g. 5 Zebra Danios 8 Tiger Barbs 1 Pleco 1 Red Tail Shark Some tetras. That'd probably fit nicely. This post has been edited by Luketendo: Dec 22 2007, 11:52 PM |

31 inches... just a little too short for a rainbow shark.
REply to Luketendo: I wouldn't do the rainbow w/ a pleco, even if it was 3ft because it's still a little cramped for the fish and when fish are cramped they get aggressive.. EDIT: lots of edits You could do danios, a pair of angels, and the pleco. |

I think that would be okay. You could do hatchetfish or zebra danios, as well. For cleaner fish... your best bet is otocinclus. They stay small and eat algae. Make sure you have enough algae for them, because they don't usually take pellets, especially when you'll have a rainbow shark patrolling the bottom.

Nah zebra danios are okay. They are pretty active but your tank is big enough.... or was there some other reason you didn't want them?

It's borderline.. it depends on the personality of the fish. Sometimes you'll get a really laid back one, somettimes you'll get a hyper one...
