Hi, I was curious to find out what are some of the oldest fish you have kept?

I myself am new to the hobby, and the first fish I had bought that I still have are a group of platties, which I've had since the start of the year in January, so they're about 5 months old.

Would be interesting to see how old all the species of tropical fish can reach. Share your experiences! biggrin.gif

Cheers

When I was a kid I caught a trout minnow and kept it in a goldfish bowl for almost 2 years. I obviously knew nothing about fish, I'm still shocked it survived in there for that long. Actually it probably would have lived longer but my cat ate it wacko.gif

Currently my oldest fish is only about 6 months, but I know a lot more now and they're all super happy so here's to hoping! I read a post on a different forum where someone mentioned they had an Oscar for 17 years... that's amazing. Some dogs don't even live for that long!

I had a Jack Dempsey for 5 years until I had to move out of state so I gave him to a nice, loving family. He was the best fish I ever had, great personality.
