Very nice! It's kind of freaky how they just pop out and start swimming right away laugh.gif. I used to have guppies and fry some years ago, but I never got to witness the actual labour in process.

coolx.gif That was amazing!!!! I have never seen any of my guppies or platies give birth, they always seem to give birth at night. sleeping.gif

I have a question though. One of my female guppies had something reddish pink with a white dot comming out of her. unsure.gif As the day has progressed the white dot has become bigger and fluffier. I thought she was actually giving birth and my hubby thought it might be some kind of placenta. Does anyone know what this might be? confused.gif

Thank you so much in advance. hehe.gif

Great pics william. I have only ever seen the actually birth of my fish twice. The first I spotted 5 coming out. But the second only one, and then found a ton more in the grass and debri I have placed at the bottom of the tank.

QUOTE (William @ May 28 2003, 10:59 PM)
This morning I saw a fry in the tank and netted it up, I knew which fish it was as well because I'd been watching her for a couple of days.  I got out the digital camera and missed several opportunities to snap pictures of fry coming out, messing up the timing, now I have quite a good sense of timing it appears almost that there is like a spike (the tail) which comes out just 3 or 4 seconds before she gives birth giving a key clue she'll also speed up the beating of her fins smile.gif  Altogether spent 2 minutes of film on my digital camera and wasted about half an hour trying to get the pictures.  I've now got about 25 of her fry in the breeding net as she gave birth in the community tank and because I liked her colours I wanted to try and raise some offspring like her.  thumbs-up.gif

wacko.gif oh please help me out im all confused well me and my partner, 'william' just bought some guppies wich are beautifull the very white guppie got big but i didnt know she was pregent as i kept on saying to my partner im sure she is with young...anyway a few days later i noticed she wasnt this huge white beautifull guppie buit alot slimmer one as i was checking out the fish like checking for white spot etc i noticed 3 young fry white like her i thought awww how sweet each day one kept on goijng missing untill now we dont see any at all we bought a breeding thing to put the pregnant female in we put our other female in who is showing sighns off beeing pregnant but we let her back out with the other becouse we think she is in her early staGES yet and i see a little blsck spot forming on her when would i know if she is pregnanrt for sure its confusing and for me beeing new to it all can be worrying and frustrating can u show me a drawing or diagram and how big she will be before she dropps her fry and also do i put her in before she gives birth and how many days when do i put her in before she gives birth please let me now e'mail me >>>>>sanvean2000@hotmail.com

Lipreader unless the male is really young, does he flare and showoff around the female? If so you can lay odds babies will arrive soon. Female guppy gestation is about 28 days. If he's bugging her too much get another female or two, then he has to divide his time and the first female gets a rest from his antics. If that female was grown when you got her she could already be pregnant, they can have 3-4 litters from one breeding, they store the sperm, so she could have whooped it up with another male back at the store already.

WOW is the word i just cant wait for my mollies to do something like it if i can figure out there sexes lol sleep.gif

If you seriously do not know, the male will have a tube behind his abdomen, and the female will have a large fin behind hers. I hope this helps.
