How about instead of a pin, because we're getting rather clustered up there, instead I'll merge it with the betta pinned article full of links and then alter the name to betta and gourami helpful links something and something

SimonA: I'll try to get some pics up later today though getting them to stay still for photos requires lots of patience.
I do agree that there needs to be more info about Gouramis in this section of the forum. I love Bettas and Gouramis equally so it's more just a case of making sure people have the basics on Gouramis too. |

I would have to agree with Wuv, a lot of folks on the forum own bettas and gouramis. I know a few of them do anyways, myself included. I think a pinned topic including both would be a good idea, rather than having two independent pinned topics.

I'm a big gourami fan, and have been for a long time, but I have to admit that they are no longer as popular as they used to be.
I think this is due to the fact that they are mostly tank raised in industrial type conditions. As a result, disease is common and some of the more interesting of the standard sized ones are hardly ever available. The popularity of the new colored dwarf gouramis has taken its toll too. The distributors, at least in my area, just do not stock the females, so a hobbyist cannot breed them at home. IMHO, this is a sad state of affairs! |

I have a question...Do bettas and gouramis get along in one tank?
Also, how many male gouramis can I keep together in a 50 gallon community tank? Can't find any females. But the LFS were keeping the boys all together cramped in a tank, and they seemed to get along fine... |

Bettas and gouramis do not get along, and they will often fight each other. The reason the gouramis in the lfs are ok is because there are too many there. By overstocking them, they pretty much don't have any space so swim, much less to fight. What gouramis do you want? P.T. |
