I have a heavily planted 35gal and i was thinking of stocking it with 2 dps, 5 bumblebee gobies and lots of shrimp.

Will this work, or is it a definite no go?

I'd skip the shrimp but more than likely, yes. I kept BBG's and DP's together with no problems.

I have DP'S and BBG'S together at the moment.
Oto's are supposed to work well but mine always died, it was very frustrating.

As long as your tank is fully cycled and planted, two DPs is perfectly fine in a 35gal (massive IMO). But you will need to rehouse those danios. The little DPs will get very annoyed and harassed by them. Not only that, some DPs are tricky to get feeding when firstly introduced and danios stealing all their food won't help laugh.gif

They might be OK at first but be prepared to see nipped fins and tails if you insist keeping them together rolleyes.gif

They do perfectly fine in fresh, it's irrelevant for them, as they adapt and survive in water of varying salinities. In the wild some species are found in acidic water. Search for "deventhal" on the search function for more info, as she is a gobiologist I interviewed on the subject.

Okay, new idea. shifty.gif

I think I'm going to put all my shrimp into the main tank, and have the puffer in a planted, 5gal tank. Yay. w00t.gif

From experience, the lone DPs are more relaxed and more funny to watch, especially males laugh.gif . A planted 5gal will be perfect. You can leave a few adult shrimps in there. I've been keeping cherries and DPs together for the last few months and they have been fine so far. No antennae or leg nipping, YET biggrin.gif . Obviously shrimp babies get eaten but some still survive.

Are your DPs going straight in your new 10gal? Make sure the tank is fully cycled before putting them in. They are very sensitive little things.

Any pictures of your cuties btw? biggrin.gif

Grarrgh, they've been in for 24 hours and they looked fine. Both females, and they were hunting down snails and even had some bloodworm last night.

Just looked at the now and they are both at the bottom of the tank. One swam up and had sand hanging on her. crazy.gif

Ammonia Nitrate and Nitrite are all 0. Temp is 27 degrees. I think the filter might be too strong, but i dont know how to turn it down. crazy.gif crazy.gif
