I have a heavily planted 35gal and i was thinking of stocking it with 2 dps, 5 bumblebee gobies and lots of shrimp.
Will this work, or is it a definite no go? This post has been edited by Esfa: Apr 27 2008, 08:40 AM |

I have DP'S and BBG'S together at the moment.
Oto's are supposed to work well but mine always died, it was very frustrating. |

my lfs have some in atm, for the first time i've seen. my tank currently has 10 zebra danios too. Do you think i should get one DP, and see how it goes? As long as your tank is fully cycled and planted, two DPs is perfectly fine in a 35gal (massive IMO). But you will need to rehouse those danios. The little DPs will get very annoyed and harassed by them. Not only that, some DPs are tricky to get feeding when firstly introduced and danios stealing all their food won't help They might be OK at first but be prepared to see nipped fins and tails if you insist keeping them together |

Ah okay. I'll take your advice and wait a few years, then.
Or just get another tank..... |

wow 2 dps in a 35 gallon but bumblebee gobys are brackish water and dont do to well in fresh just to put in concideration They do perfectly fine in fresh, it's irrelevant for them, as they adapt and survive in water of varying salinities. In the wild some species are found in acidic water. Search for "deventhal" on the search function for more info, as she is a gobiologist I interviewed on the subject. |

Okay, new idea.
I think I'm going to put all my shrimp into the main tank, and have the puffer in a planted, 5gal tank. Yay. |

Are your DPs going straight in your new 10gal? Make sure the tank is fully cycled before putting them in. They are very sensitive little things.
Any pictures of your cuties btw? |

Grarrgh, they've been in for 24 hours and they looked fine. Both females, and they were hunting down snails and even had some bloodworm last night.
Just looked at the now and they are both at the bottom of the tank. One swam up and had sand hanging on her. Ammonia Nitrate and Nitrite are all 0. Temp is 27 degrees. I think the filter might be too strong, but i dont know how to turn it down. |
