I live in Long Island, New York and would be happy to help out if someone in my area need some. I run box filters and keep the chambers of my AquaClears filled with filter floss too, so I can easily pull enough to help someone clone a tank.

It is possible to keep media alive..
Step one get some cod or similar fish, boil off, and put a small chunk of meat in a washing machine tablet bag (the draw string ones). Add this to a normal bag of tank water. Put in your media as last minute as possible. and add half a dozen oxygeneation tablets.. these will ruin water parameters but they do keep the bacteria alive and healthy.. cost something like a pound in wilkinsons or similar. Next add plenty of pure unperfumed ammonia Put the cod oxygen tablets filter media bag inside another bag to prevent spillage, and pack within polystyrene with a heat pack or two if you really want... Wrap in brown paper, adress, and use a same day courier service such as the one offered by staples Small packages cost around 6.50. Total cost about a tenner, and the other person will need to be in to recieve media and add to a heated oxygeneated tank with fish/ add pure ammonia straight away, but it does work. Chuck the cod n post back / reuse the fish bag to pass on media when you can. Simple. ^ Anyone that can't find someone local and needs this feel free to pm. |

Count me in. I have freshwater fish and I am in Stockton on Tees, Cleveland, UK. I'd be willing to run a filter side by side in my tank, or donate a sponge from my juwel filter if the person provided a new sponge.
